Leakage detection

TraceTek leakage warning and location system

The TraceTek system is a leakage warning and location system and is used to detect liquid leaks.

With the help of a sensor line and the associated evaluation units, contamination with a wide variety of liquids can be detected and located with meter accuracy. Its use is particularly important when you cannot see the area to be monitored, such as in raised floors (clean rooms, server rooms) or pipe runs in suspended ceilings.
It is also used in parallel with buried pipelines and for tank monitoring to detect oil leaks.

The TraceTek system’s unlimited application range, custom installation scheme and high flexibility allow a user to quickly and cleanly monitor however simple or complicated the requirements.
Whether you need a simple alarm system for a single room or a widespread warning and location system for a large area, there is a TraceTek system available to meet almost any requirement.

Avoid any risk. Find leaks before they find you!

The smallest amounts of liquid can cause downtime, malfunctions and costly damage. Why go through the inconvenience when you have the option of large-scale monitoring? Even very small leaks usually require a significant amount of cleanup and repair. TraceTek technology detects leaks on the spot and pinpoints their exact locations, allowing you to limit the damage before it spreads. TraceTek leak detection and locating systems have already proven their reliability in telecommunications centers, building services control centers, administrative and commercial institutions, libraries, hospitals, archives and museums.

Point sensors do not yet detect leakage …

…where tractek has long since sounded the alarm.

Why blanket surveillance?

With point monitoring, the leaking liquid must reach a sensor to trigger an alarm. Therefore, under unfavorable circumstances, a leak can spread considerably before it even reaches a point sensor.

With TraceTek, however, the liquid is detected as soon as it touches the sensor cable at any point.

Placing the cable in close proximity to potential trouble spots ensures that leaks are detected even earlier. The TTDM locating unit indicates the distance to the leak, allowing effective countermeasures to be taken immediately.

The TraceTek Leak Detection and Location System detects the leak immediately on site, an alarm sounds and the exact location of the damage appears on the display. Through the installation plan – which is part of the scope of delivery – you can see the leakage location.

Data centers and server rooms

In computer rooms, the sensor cable is looped in the raised floor near plumbing, water pipes, air conditioners and other sources of risk.

Networks

Network servers are often housed in rooms that are inadequately protected. To prevent leakage damage, the sensor cable is laid in raised floors and or collection troughs underneath pipe runs.

Switchboards

The TraceTek sensor cable protects telephone systems when installed underneath water pipes as well as along the perimeter trim of the room. Leaks can thus be detected early and corrected before a malfunction occurs.

Galleries and museums

Whatever the dangers to which your valuables may be exposed, the TraceTek system can be designed as a simple
warning or branched tracking system.

Basement rooms

TraceTek provides continuous monitoring of unattended areas, such as basement storage rooms, that are at risk from ceiling-mounted water pipes, seepage, or flooding. Early warning can prevent greater calamity.

Archives with sprinkler systems

The TraceTek sensor cable is installed in a collection trough under the pipes of the sprinkler system. Due to the direct monitoring of the water pipes, leaks can be detected immediately

Heating and air conditioning systems

The TraceTek sensor cable is ideal for monitoring water powered heating and air conditioning systems.
When a leak is detected, the system can shut off the water supply via the relay contact, preventing costly damage to your office.

Shafts

Leaky areas in utility shafts can cause damage to multiple floors without the cause being immediately apparent.
TraceTek offers flexible routing options so that even widely separated rooms can be easily monitored and detected using T-junctions and area delimiters. Early detection is ensured by the sensor cables on all floors – the locating unit displays the exact position of the leak.

Technical rooms

TraceTek systems provide around-the-clock leakage monitoring in unguarded basements and equipment rooms. A special TraceTek sensor cable is used to monitor emergency generators. It reacts to leaking hydrocarbons such as diesel.

Particularly critical areas

Operators of water-polluting liquid pipelines that pass through particularly critical areas should consider additional measures to detect and mitigate leaks.
In the U.S., hydrocarbon sensing pipelines are listed in the standard API 1160 listed as mitigated facilities.

Connecting and transfer lines

For transfer services where the SCADA monitoring system is not effective or has too high an initial cost, TraceTek systems are usually a cost-effective alternative with higher response sensitivities and alarm triggering.

Hydrant refueling systems at airports

TraceTek sensor lines provide around-the-clock leakage monitoring and location. The sensor line is installed parallel to the kerosene pipeline in the flight apron. Other detection systems for airports are based on regular pressure drop measurements, where each section can only be checked once every 30 days. TraceTek provides accurate information 24 hours a day and ensures early detection.

Tank farms

The sensor cable is installed around the storage tank or under their base plate to permanently protect the tanks from leaks. The fast fuel sensor is particularly effective. It does not react to rainwater and jumps on the smallest amounts of fuel.
